A Little Change of Scenery

In my never ending quest to try and find a blogging format that works best for me and the plans I have for the future, I’ve kinda stopped posting here. Shocking, I know, because there are so many people who hang on my every word, but it was time to move on to the greener pastures of Tumblr. This isn’t supposed to be any kind of knock on WordPress because it’s really great, I just plan on posting a lot of audio clips and other mediums that just don’t seem as easy to post here. That isn’t to say I’ll never post here again, but I probably won’t post here regularly…not that I have recently, anyway. So, in the event you care about what I say and think I make some kind of point, you can check me out here.

The Tebow “Thing”

The CBS Crew Gets It

This is not meant to be me “gushing” over Tim Tebow. This is to talk about the Broncos win to me, what this win means to me, and the state of my fandom.

Six years ago, the Denver Broncos faced a home game where a win placed them in the playoffs. To go along with this they had a young quarterback, Jay Cutler, and had lost the heart of the defense, Al Wilson. They lost this game, that night Darrent Williams was murdered, and in two short years the team would see a tremendous makeover. Over that six years, the Broncos saw a new head coach, a QB traded, a WR traded, 8-8 seasons, mediocrity, and a whole lot of things that I didn’t enjoy. This year, I got to go to Sports Authority Field at Mile High for the week 17 match up with the Chiefs. It was eerily similar, a young quarterback leading the Broncos to a win and you’re in scenario at home in a season where the heart of the Denver defense, Brian Dawkins, was injured. As much as I loved my trip, and there will be a post about that later, the Broncos lost and it looked in question about whether the Broncos will be in the playoffs. Then, a miracle happened, and Oakland lost to San Diego and the Broncos were in the playoffs. Read the rest of this entry »

A History Lesson For You…

So this happened…

On November 5th, the hacker group known as Anonymous is planning to attack Facebook and bring them down. I plan to make a post about the whole hacking deal soon, but this is going to focus on November 5th and the significance that this date holds. So follow along after the jump for a little bit of history… Read the rest of this entry »

It’s That Time Again…

The lockout has been over for a little over a week now and football is back in full swing, for the most part. In reality, the CBA still needs to be ratified before the league year can truly start but that is all just loose ends and nothing to worry about. A lot of the fun since the lockout ended is that, instead of the usual slow moving NFL free agency period, this year has seen a flurry of transactions that manifested in just a few days. Instead of a busy two days and a slow trickle of news for the following four months, fans were gifted an orgy of non-stop coverage and news filling fans in on the final landing points for players like Albert Haynesworth, Chad Ochocinco, Nnamdi Asomugha and DeAngelo Williams.

The biggest fun of the post-lockout NFL is that it only provides a few short weeks to prepare for something most fans commit months to preparing for…fantasy football. I’ve been participating in fantasy football for years now and it is definitely something that you either get or you don’t, there is little to no middle ground. In fact, I recently told a friend who is a fan of football, but not nearly into it as I am, that I was excited for my league to start up and they looked at me as if I stopped speaking English and slipped into some jibberish language. So I got to thinking, why do I get so into fantasy football? Let’s see what I came up with… Read the rest of this entry »

On Kyle Orton…

leave a comment »

There’s a controversy in Denver right now, you might even call it Josh McDaniels final little gift. There are two quarterbacks in Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow and this is a one QB town, so what needs to be done? The options are limited, the Broncos can trade Orton for what they believe he is worth, the Broncos can trade Orton for less than he is valued, the Broncos can bench Orton and still pay him his $8.8 million salary for the season, or the Broncos can outright release him. Either way, something must be done to solve the problem. But why, why can’t Denver keep both quarterbacks? Let’s take a look at the situation…

Really, San Diego? Really?

So, I guess San Diego thinks Eric Weddle is pretty good? I would certainly hope so, since they decided to pay him like he’s the greatest safety to ever play the game. This move has already been reamed on Twitter by a lot of people, and I am hard pressed to find someone who thinks the Chargers are not overpaying this clown, so it’s been a little bit of a schadenfreude afternoon for non-Charger fans. Now I’m not going to lie, I love seeing my division rivals potentially throw their money away, but let’s take a look at why Weddle is maybe worth this kind of money…

On Friends…

leave a comment »

It’s taken me a little over a week to be able to put this into words and I still don’t completely know if I have it right. I have some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for, so much so to the point that a lot of times it can get taken for granted. Locations change, people change, and sometimes you just can’t keep in touch as much as you would like. Sometimes you realize those things a little too late. Read the rest of this entry »
